The First Engagement

The First Engagement

My first Miniatures Wargame Report with Star Wars Fleets

Hello, Readers! I am the Juggerhawk, wargamer and fictional writer, and welcome to my first ever Star Wars Fleets battle report! If you don't know, this blog will be dedicated to the space battles and wargames related to my 1/2256 scale Star Wars fleets.

For those of you who don't have the slightest clue as to what I am talking about, wargaming is taking miniatures, and then using an assortment of tools (Such as rulers, dice, etc) and basically play a game with them. I personally play a whole assortment of wargames, ranging from World War 2, the Napoleonic Era, and even to the modern age. This blog, as previously stated, will be dedicated to my Star Wars Wargames. Is relation to Star Wars, I possess two fleets: The Brave Rebellion, and the Tyrannical Empire. To put it to scale, the picture on the left is how small these fighters are.

"But Juggerhawk! There is already a miniature wargame out for Star Wars called Armada!" Yes, I know. And I also know how expensive it is. I am a man on a budget, and as such prefer not to pay $50-100 for a few ships when I can pay less than $30 for a large fleet. And yes, I said under $30.

I got these little ships off of a nifty little site called Shapeways, which is a 3D printing site. I was able to get about 30 Fighters for $5, which was an amazing deal that appealed to me more than the prices for Armada.

"But Juggerhawk! Armada actually has rules and cards! Are there rules out there for this bootleg version you have?" Well...... no. Which is why I created my own rules and statistics! Taking mechanics from both Empire at War (Awesome game!) and my own mind, I was able to organize a rule set that is still being tampered around with. As such, it does have some.... kinks.

As such, I have had to.... ad lib, in a way. To serve as command cards, I have had to cheat a little by making cards on Magic Cardsmith. Once I figure out Gimp, I can make them more efficiently.

The card to the right would be for Captain Kree, a distinguished strategist who I plan to implement into many of my future battles until he dies. The ship I will primarily put him in command of is an Imperial Escort Frigate.

Speaking of, lets talk about what my fleets actually consist of! My Rebels currently consist of Red, Blue, Yellow, and Green X-Wing Squadrons, each squad containing 9 Fighters, and Yellow and Red Y-Wing Squadrons (6 Bombers each).

These are an example of Blue and Yellow Squadron. As of now, Blue Leader is Desmond Mil'k, while Yellow Leader is John Cage (If you get the reference, you get a high five). Red Leader is an Alien named Drek, and Green leader is Mon Calamari Pilot Galen Dromani.

I don't have leader names for my Y-Wings yet.... If you guys have a name for my Y-Wing Leaders, say so in the comment section!

My Imperial Fleet consists of 2 Star Destroyers, an Orbital Factory, a Frigate, 2 Transports, 12 TIE Fighters, 12 Black Squadron Interceptors, and 12 Royal Guard Interceptors

Yeah, not the best pic, but meh

And this is it for my introduction! If you guys have any comments or criticism, please say so in the comment section! My first battle will be posted either tonight or in a few days. Thank you for reading, and I hope you all have a great day!
